Now that Operation: Gratitude, 2014 is nearing completion, we want to thank each of you who were able to attend as either a participant, greeter or vendor. More than 500 active duty, retiree, National Guard, Reserve, Veteran and their spouses were able to enjoy the festivities throughout the day.
We did quite a few things differently this year and in many ways better. The American Legion, featuring Marvin Behrens put on an amazing tribute that really hit home. Our driving force behind the event, Lorna Power and volunteer extraordinaire, was able to get all of the moving pieces in sync and the event wouldn’t have been half as good without her orchestrating everything. Months of work culminated into one amazing day and she deserves all of the credit for putting it together. The rest of us were just along for the ride.
From our point of view, the event was awesome but we’re biased. We want to know what you thought of the event and how it could be improved upon. If you thought the event was perfect just the way it was, please, let us know. On the other hand, if you thought it could use some work, let us know that too. We’re all about constructive criticism around here so don’t be shy. We’ve set up a brief ten question survey for you to tell us what you thought of our little event. We can’t make it better without knowing what we need to improve upon so fire away.
Finally, we’ve already started some ideas for next year and since we have a year to plan, we’re going to start with a name change. While Operation: Gratitude is a great name and really explains what the day is about, I think we can do better. If you have any ideas, tell us on the survey! This event is all about you so enjoy it and stand by for the door prize drawings; we’ll be making calls this week.
