Over the last two months, the local food banks have been taxed to the limit! Nobody quite understands why but each of the agencies have noticed a significant increase in the amount of assistance they’ve been requesting. In response, Bremer County Veterans Affairs has opened its pantry doors for both donations and veterans in need of assistance.
The pantry will operate on donations alone so if you’re in the grocery store and have an extra buck for a can of green beans or other non-perishable food item, drop it by the office and we’ll make sure it goes to a veteran and family in need. Unfortunately, without a freezer, we are unable to accept perishable items or fresh fruit and vegetables. Don’t have time to drop by the office but want to help out? You can send us your check or donate online through our website! Simply make a notation on your payment that you want your donation to go towards the food pantry!
If you’re a veteran in need of assistance, give us a call and we’ll see about all programs that might be able to get you back on track.
