He was born in Fulton Co. Ill. He was married in 1865 in Bremer Co. Ia. to Nancy Ann Tibbitts whose family came to Bremer Co. as pioneers in the late 50’s. He enlisted in Capt. W. V. Lucas Co. B. 15, Ia. which went from Waverly. The family at that time lived at Denver, Ia. He moved to Butler Co. near Shell Rock as a farmer in 1885 then to town. Five years later moved to Cedar Falls and then to Shell Rock again residing for 10 Yrs. Stephen Do was wounded in right hand at battle of Pleasant Hill 4/9/1864. Saw 27 months of active service. Died of cancer at Shell Rock, Ia. July 11. 1914.
