Born in Ohio about 1840. Came to Bremer Co. Ia as a small lad and his whole life spent here except the 3 years in army. Was married twice little Kuam as to first marriage. 2nd. marriage to a daughter of Mrs Mary Bettsinger and she was now lived in Rockford Ill. with the two children Victor and Romona. Enlisting in Co. B. 14 Ia. as one of Capt. Lucas’ boys took part in all the heavy fighting of that unit returned home farmed and followed trade of stone mason when work was available. Was a pioneer woodsman. Liked his liquor but was one of those men who had the heart of an ox- even then all his gruffness. Death came suddently from a stroke of appoplexy from which he never regained consionciness Aug. 23 1906. His comrades of the G.O.J. assisted in the burial in Harlington Cem. at Waverly.

Was survived bb wife and 2 children.

Also 2 brothers jn Columan D.D. a well as one in Sioux City Ia. and one sister in Duluth Minn. and one othersister at Waterloo.
