He took part in the battle of Yorktown, Williamsburg, Mechanicscille, South Mountain. Anlietam, Frederiksburg. Gettysburt Spattsylvania and Petersburg. He was taken prisoner at Spattylvania and spent six months in Andersonavile prison.
In 1865 he came to Waverly in 1875 he was county sheriff for three terms. He went to the Ligislathere in 1881. He married Kate Wuester in 1878.
His first enlistment was in Co. G, 49 NY Inf. . He was discharged aat Brandy Station, Virginia, and reenlisted from there Dec. 16, 1863.
The daughter Lou Hunchette served in US Amry in France at Base Hospital #1 in France during the World War , is now married and lives in Seattle Wm.
The other Daughter Miss Rue Hanchett served as Dept of Ia. president of the W. [ ] later Supt. of girls traing schol at Mitchricille Ia.
